We snowbirds had spent our usual three months in Palm Springs at the last day of January 2018 and started our homeward travel with a flight to San Francisco. It was a very warm day at over 80 degrees Farenheit and a clear sky. We had seats in the part of cabin where the views out were also very good, and the wind at the airport was also supporting great views into nearby areas towards the north – northwest from Palm Springs.
Especially the views toward San Bernardino Mountains were great when the plane was still rising and not too far from the ground. Luckily I also had a fairly good camera with a 200 mm zoom lens attached in my hand luggage and managed to take a few shots about the area around the desert mountain areas. There was still snow extending down from San Gorgonio peak at 31st Jan 2018 on our flight to San Francisco. San Jacinto peaks in the horizon behind.
Our first clear view over Big Bear Lake from the airplane shows also the airstrip by the lake.
It seemed the slopes of Big Bear area ski resorts had enough snow for skiing.
